50 percent chance of major flooding in Grand Forks; higher to the north

Some major flooding is expected all along the mainstem Red River this spring, as recent major snowfalls and cold weather combined to substantially increase the flood risk through most of the valley.

Grand Forks has a 50 percent chance of reaching the major flood stage of 46 feet and a 95 percent probability of moderate flooding. Water flows onto the Sorlie Bridge between Grand Forks and East Grand Forks at 46.2 feet. Read full article from the Grand Forks Herald

Fargo and Grand Forks need more engineered flood solutions. It’s crazy to fill a million sandbags year after year after year.
