Project Description: This removable floodwall installation is one of several projects that Flood Control America has in Fargo, ND. The project runs across 1st Avenue N at the intersection with 2nd Street N in downtown Fargo and is part of the Fargo In-Town Levees project that protects Fargo from the flooding of the Red River. The removable flood barrier at this location is approximately 160-feet wide by 9.5-feet high.

An overhead telehandler can be useful when setting vertical posts above head height. These flood wall posts are over 9-feet high. This configuration uses only parting support posts that are anchored every 10-feet.

Diagonal struts attached to the posts provide the required support for walls over 6.5-feet and projects with special loading requirement. This flood barrier configuration is designed to withstand significant ice and debris loadings in addition to the standard hydrostatic and wind loads.

Flood Control America's standard stoplog plank is made of 6000 series extruded aluminum and weigh approximately 5.5 pounds per foot. The planks installed on this project are 10' long and weigh about 55 pounds, an easy lift for two workers.

The completely installed flood barrier is seen from the wet side of the wall. The compression channels, which can be seen between the stoplogs and the posts, are adjusted to compress the vertical gaskets on the dry side of the posts, creating the watertight seal.
